Built from Zero | Early Organic Growth After Launch

The Challenge

Many maritime workflows still depend on manual calculations and spreadsheet-based tools. The opportunity was to build a more accessible web-based platform while ensuring the product could be discovered through search from the start.

Build and SEO Strategy

The project was planned as both a useful maritime product and a technical SEO exercise. Search intent, page structure, semantic HTML, performance, and schema considerations were built into the site architecture instead of being treated as post-launch fixes.

Execution

  • Built the platform with Next.js, Supabase, and Vercel.
  • Developed maritime calculators around practical operational use cases.
  • Structured the website for crawlability, semantic clarity, and indexation readiness.
  • Implemented structured data and search-friendly page architecture.
  • Used AI-assisted workflows while manually reviewing outputs for quality and accuracy.
  • Connected analytics and search monitoring to measure behavior and visibility from launch onward.

Created a working demonstration of combining technical SEO, niche expertise, and AI-assisted development.

Common Questions

Why build SEO considerations into the platform from the start?

Building SEO into the product architecture early makes it easier to align page structure, semantic markup, performance, and search intent before technical debt accumulates.

Why use a niche calculator platform as a case study?

It shows how technical SEO works best when paired with genuinely useful tools, clear audience understanding, and a content structure that matches real user needs.

What makes this project different from a standard content site?

The site was designed around functional maritime utilities rather than articles alone, so product usefulness, UX, data structure, and SEO all had to support each other.
